ever since starting this teeny 10 on 10 project last month, i’ve been counting the days until the start of this month’s. i noticed that this time i started to look for things a little less and just kind of roll with whatever was showing up at the front door of my day. on this particular day last week, Chris welcomed the day with cupcakes for breakfast and the kids and i spent the better part of the morning at the mall. i find the mall has become one of those places stay at home moms go to to waste some time and pretend shop. side note: i could win a gold medal at pretend shopping. it goes something like this:
“i need this.
wait. i cant try this on while wearing a baby bjorn.
i’ll just return it if it doesnt fit.
ugh. i’m not waiting in this line.
lets go get a pretzel.”
this time our adventure at the mall didnt include much pretend shopping; Jack picked out some very large fuschia shoes for Ruby, we rode the Macy’s elevator about a dozen times and ran a few hundred races down the long mall corridor. i cant even vaguely remember having that much fun at a mall and not spending a dime.
and the blissful icing on the cupcake? getting to snuggle in for a 2 hour nap with my rolley polley Violet.
as the lyrical Ice Cube would say, “i got to say it was a good day.”

Ten LIfestyle Photographer - [...] Ten. This project is about documenting 10 images from any day. Its a project I’m shooting for me and for them. Its not perfect, but its us. Ten little snaps of our days together, and here is the August edition. The boys have been taking swim lessons for the last few weeks and its huge in their lives right now. They are in LOVE with the water, and live for swim lessons. Goggles are a particular high point and Sam actually wears his on his eyes for at least an hour before we actually get to the pool. Gabe who is often the more cautious of the two, and I’m using the term cautious in a relative sense, finds ways to ‘accidentally’ fall of the edge of the pool to get as much swim time as he can. I’m treasuring these last weeks of summer and willing time to slow down. I’m thrilled to be sharing this project with 10 other photographers from around the country and we’d love for you to take a peek through our circle, starting with Shannon Harrison of Jack and Ruby Studios in Temecula, California.
